We are currently seeking a Special Education Teacher for a full-time position working with high school students in the Wilmerding, PA area. The Special Education Teacher will have a daily schedule of approximately 7:00am – 3:00pm, Monday through Friday. Ideal candidates will have their Special Education Teaching Certification, however, an emergency certification can be provided if needed. All candidates must have up-to-date PA Clearances.

Qualifications:

• PA Special Education Teaching Certification preferred
• If not certified, you must be eligible to be emergency certified
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field
• Must have current, up-to-date PA clearances
  • FBI Fingerprints, PA Criminal Background, PA Child Abuse

Responsibilities:

• Designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) that support the unique learning needs of students with disabilities.
• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to meet the individual needs of students.
• Provide direct instruction in small groups or one-on-one settings as outlined in students’ IEPs.
• Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to support students in achieving academic and social goals.
• Work closely with general education teachers to provide support and accommodations in inclusive classroom settings.
• Collaborate with related service providers, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and counselors, to address students’ needs.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, including progress reports and required documentation.
• Implement behavior management plans and strategies to address students’ behavioral and emotional needs.
• Promote self-regulation and social-emotional learning skills.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to update them on their child’s progress and collaborate on strategies for success.
• Actively engage in efforts to enhance the school’s academic and creative environment for all students.
