We are currently seeking a Library Media Teacher for a for full-time position working with K-8 students in the Philadelphia, PA 19133 area. The position is for the 2024-2025 school year and begins immediately. Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Library Sciences or related field, a PA Instructional Certification specific to Library Science PK-12 or eligibility for instructional certification in Pennsylvania, at least three years of experience running a library, preferably in an urban school setting, and updated clearances.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Library Sciences or related field
• PA Instructional Certification specific to Library Science PK-12 or eligibility for instructional certification in Pennsylvania
• At least three years of experience running a library, preferably in an urban school setting
• Content knowledge in research and development of library skills, in addition to classroom management, organization, planning, instructional delivery, and technical skills
• Fluency in Spanish preferred, but not required
• Up-to-date PA Clearances

  • PA Criminal Background Check
  • PA Child Abuse
  • Act 31, Act 24, Act 168

Responsibilities:

• Teaches research and library skills to students across grades K-8
• Collaborates with classroom teachers and manages all aspects of maintaining the school library/iMedia Center, organizing library material and equipment for effective and efficient utilization and circulation
• Plans with teachers, when appropriate, for meaningful and effective grade appropriate reference work and/or literature appreciation activities for students
• Selects, adapts and individualizes lessons and materials appropriate for diverse student populations, skills and learning styles
• Supports the school’s student achievement, state reading standards and fosters student recreational reading
