We are currently seeking an Emotional Support Special Education Teacher for a full-time position supporting middle school students in the Oreland, PA area. The positions will start start immediately and continue through the end of the school year. Eligible candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, an active PA Special Education PK-8 or PK-12 certification, and up-to-date PA clearances.

Qualifications:

• Must have a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s in Education
• Must have an active PA Special Education PK-8 or PK-12 certification
• Must have current up-to-date PA clearances

Responsibilities:

• Employ special educational strategies to improve the cognitive and behavioral development of students with EBD

• Assess students’ functioning to customize an Individualized Education Plan (IEP

• Creatively design and assign activities that modify general curriculum to suit every pupil’s needs.

• Meet regularly with parents and other school staff like behavior specialists or counselors to monitor students’ progress

• Use positive reinforcement to enforce rules for classroom behavior.

• Lead self-contained classes for one-on-one and small group instruction.

• Teach acceptable social skills and improve self-esteem.

• Participate in eligibility process, as assigned, and participate in the intake process

• Manage the behavior of learners in instructional setting to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process, and assists and participates in management of student behavior in other parts of the school and school grounds

• Coordinates educational activities with other professional staff, both school and no school based, as required to maximize learning opportunities
