We are currently seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) for full-time positions working with adults in a residential facility in the Des Plaines, IL area. The DSPs will be responsible for ensuring the safety and health of residents and engaging in fun ways for residents to thrive and foster independence. Eligible candidates must have a HS Diploma or GED and a valid IL Driver’s License.

Qualifications:

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED
• Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License
• Must have recent Physical
• Have have valid CPR/First Aid certification
• Must be physically able to assist participants when necessary (i.e. lifting, using approved adaptive equipment, using approved physical restraint techniques)

Responsibilities:

• Promote a sense of belonging and to support community participation
• Actively engage in fun and encouraging ways for residents to thrive
• Assist and encourage residents to foster independence
• Treat each person with dignity and the capability to learn new skills
• Supports the residents with activities of daily living as needed (May include but is not limited to lifting, transferring, toileting, feeding, bathing, and dressing)
• Accompanies consumers on outings and provides safe transportation for consumers by operating agency vehicles
• Informs team when significant behavioral or medical changes occur in consumers.
• Completes all required documentation
• Participates in team, agency staff meetings and required in service training sessions
• Performs other duties as assigned
