After School Chess Instructor – Philadelphia (RF: 3093)
We are currently seeking an instructor for a high-energy after-school program in the Philadelphia area teaching students the game of Chess. A basic understanding of chess would be beneficial but is not required for the position. The schedule will be Monday-Friday during after-school hours (approximately 2:45 pm – 5:00 pm.) Ideal candidates will be professional, dependable, punctual, and great classroom managers of kids. Candidates should have the charisma to develop an excellent professional rapport with the school staff and chess students. This is a fun opportunity to get some experience working with children in a school setting or add extra hours to your work week.
Qualifications:
- Must have a High School Diploma
- Must be professional, dependable, and punctual
- Must be comfortable managing a classroom of kids
- A basic understanding of Chess is beneficial but not required
- Must have up-to-date PA clearances
- FBI Background Check
- PA Criminal Clearance
- Child Abuse Clearance
- Act 24, Act 168
Responsibilities:
- Teach chess lessons to students (grades K-5) in after-school programs
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students with varying skill levels
- Organize and oversee friendly competitions and games
- Communicate with parents and school administrators as needed
- Maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment
- Foster an interest in chess and encourage students to think critically and strategically
